Matt Kroska netted the deciding goal for the North Iowa Bulls in the shootout as Bulls prevailed over the Twin City Steel, 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Twin City got a shootout goal from Trey Hughes. North Iowa's other shootout goal was scored by Tony Paulson.The Bulls saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. North Iowa made the score 2-0 on a goal by Patrick Sivets at 15:46 in the second period. The Steel evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tom Bartel at 14:06 in the third period. The Bulls were sparked by Paulson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Paulson scored 12:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. Connor Langfield assisted on the tally. North Iowa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Bulls could not produce up to they normal offensive output. North Iowa averages 5.7 goals per game. Twin City was unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Taylor Brown, who had one. The Steel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulls to score on any of their five power plays. In addition, Twin City received assists from Noah Anderson, who had two and Hughes and Jordan Schwandt, who contributed one a piece. Matthew Bartels recorded 19 saves for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Twin City's Garret Patrick stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Steel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
