Gay leads Toledo to shutout victory over MetroLakeland Rink1 Sat, Dec 22, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Nate Gay was superb between the pipes for the Toledo Cherokee, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Metro Jets. Toledo was led by Nicholas Brazeal, who had one goal. Brazeal scored 2:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Alec Gerred assisted on the tally. The Cherokee's offense rang up 33 shots on Metro's net. Toledo also got a goal from Blake Podgorski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Donnie Nagle, who had two and Zachary Armstrong, Brett Podgorski, and Jordan Fogarty, who contributed one a piece. The Jets did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Metro puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Toledo's Gay stopped 25 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Cherokee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Austin Julvezan made 30 saves for the Jets on 33 shots. Metro incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
