Three Rivers rips Battle Creek, 6-2

The Three Rivers Vengeance were firing on all cylinders against the Battle Creek Revolution, and when the final buzzer sounded Vengeance emerged with a 6-2 win.

Three Rivers pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 38 penalty minutes.

The Vengeance stifled Battle Creek's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Three Rivers' offense rang up 44 shots on the Revolution's net. The Vengeance's goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Three Rivers averages 3.9 goals per contest.

The Vengeance were led by Alex Berardinelli, who registered two goals. Berardinelli scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Three Rivers. Three Rivers had gotten the advantage when Battle Creek's Kyle Ward was sent off for cross checking. Berardinelli's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Three Rivers with 11:36 left in the second period. Tyler Berry also scored for Three Rivers. Other players who recorded assists for Three Rivers were Brooks Antill, Kevin Kenny, Robbie Sigurdsson, and Gavin Cummings, who each chipped in one.

The Revolution racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Battle Creek had been spending in the box. The Revolution kept the Vengeance's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Stepke made 29 saves on 31 shots. Battle Creek was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage.

The Revolution were helped by Derek Dodge, who tallied one goal. Dodge scored 1:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Three Rivers. Forest Walbeck provided the assist. Battle Creek also got a goal from Austin Maynard as well. More assists for Battle Creek came via Zach Rees and Stephen Comperchi, who contributed one a piece.

Three Rivers registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Jackson Steltmann recorded 38 saves for Battle Creek. For the Revolution, Eric Tucker was ejected from the game.
