The Toledo Cherokee had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Flint Jr. Generals.

Toledo was paced by Austin Turner, who racked up one goal. Turner scored 3:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Toledo. Alec Gerred provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:47 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

The Cherokee were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. Toledo had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Cherokee forced Flint goalie Ted Barile to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Toledo was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 11 chances.

Toledo also got points from Blake Podgorski, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toledo also had goals scored by Jordan Fogarty, who had one and Jordan Prewitt, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Jake Manders, Tyler Zalecki, Kyler Omey, and Nicholas Brazeal, who contributed one a piece and Brett Podgorski and Ben Torchia, who each chipped in two.

The the Jr. Generals penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and three majors for 71 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 35.0 minutes per game Flint had been spending in the box.

The Jr. Generals were helped by Austin Fletcher, who finished with one goal. Fletcher scored 6:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Flint. Timothy Conser assisted on the tally. Jacob Howie also scored for Flint. More assists for Flint came via Lucas McDiarimid, who had one and Edward Osowski, who had two.

Nate Gay recorded 26 saves for the Cherokee. For Toledo, Brody Duncan and Prewitt were ejected from the contest. Flint's Barile stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Jr. Generals registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Flint, Casey Barile was ejected from the game.
