The Three Rivers Vengeance tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Michigan Mountain Cats held on for a 3-1 victory. A goal by John Arms put Michigan up 3-0 in the third period, but Three Rivers pulled to within two on Stephen Budkey's tally 16:36 into the third period. The Mountain Cats were led by goalie Dominic Juncaj, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Juncaj certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.64 entering the contest. The Vengeance were unable to stop Michigan from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mountain Cats eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Michigan was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 11 man advantages. The defensemen of the Mountain Cats were also effective in Three Rivers' zone, and came away with two goals. Michigan was helped by Ethan Baker, who finished with one goal and one assist. Baker scored 12:21 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Michigan. James Gleason picked up the assist. Michigan also got points from Ben Mack, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Michigan came via Eric Keljo, who had one. The Vengeance could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Three Rivers averages 3.8 goals per game. The Vengeance's offense rang up 33 shots on the Mountain Cats' net. Three Rivers was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes. In addition, Three Rivers received assists from Kevin Kenny and Michael Straub, who each chipped in one. Michigan incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matthew Erlichman recorded 32 saves for the Vengeance. Three Rivers registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
