A hat trick by Trey Hughes was the highlight in Steel's 8-4 win against the Minnesota Flying Aces. Hughes got on the scoresheet 1:57 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:24 into the second and at 7:25 into the third.The Twin City Steel forced Minnesota's goalies to work without much rest, firing 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Allen Patten made 20 stops and Christan Michalik made seven. Twin City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Steel average 3.7 goals per contest. Twin City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Twin City additionally got points from Nick Cerrato, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tyler Lodin also scored for Twin City. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Chase Myers-Beck, who had three, Ryan Schroeder, Nicholas Schreiner, Shane Hill, and Blake Koosmann, who each chipped in one, and Calvin Miska and Ryan McAloon, who contributed two a piece. The Flying Aces' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Twin City power plays. Minnesota forced the Steel goalie Sawyer Marshall to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Flying Aces were led by Alec Brandup, who registered one goal and two assists. Brandup scored on the power play 15:13 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Twin City. Minnesota had gained a power play chance when Hughes was whistled for slashing. Minnesota also got points from Andre Pison, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Minnesota also got a goal from Patrick Kegley as well. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Blair Seitz, who had one. Marshall recorded 36 saves for Twin City. The Steel incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Flying Aces incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
