Palushaj lifts Metro over Michigan, 3-1

Behind a great game by Andrew Palushaj, who had two goals, the Metro Jets defeated the Michigan Mountain Cats, 3-1.

Palushaj scored on the power play at 3:11 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Metro and again while on the power play 9:42 into the third to make the score 3-1 Metro.

Metro's Alex Nedeljkovic was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Nedeljkovic will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.17.

The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Metro also got points from Jeff Monfils, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Metro received assists from Matt Stirling, who had two and Michael Lawrence, Devon D'Angelo, and Thomas Evans, who each chipped in one.

Metro was unable to stop Michigan from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mountain Cats eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Michigan was led by Kade Morrison, who scored the team's only goal. Morrison scored 3:46 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Eric Keljo provided the assist.

The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ian Dvorak made 15 saves for the Mountain Cats on 18 shots. Michigan incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
