A hat trick by Ian Eckland was the highlight in Blizzard's 8-0 win against the Quad City Jr. Flames. Eckland's first goal came 1:26 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:33 into the second and at 19:08 into the third.The the Alexandria Blizzard penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Alexandria surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Quad City power plays. Alexandria forced Quad City goalie Robby Vukelich to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots. The Blizzard surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Alexandria has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Alexandria also got points from Chayce Coenen, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Bryce Mitzel, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tanner Duffney, who also had one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Danny Pelzer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Joe Anderson, who had three, Austin Rudnick, Kyle Kuntz, Karson Kuntz, and Sean Casey, who each chipped in one, and Will Becker and Mick Dhein, who contributed two a piece. Chase Wilson recorded 24 saves for the Blizzard. Alexandria registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Jr. Flames' Vukelich stopped 47 shots out of the 55 that he faced. Quad City ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major.
