Queen City outlasts Peoria, 5-3Owens Rec Ctr Sun, Nov 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Queen City Steam and the Peoria Mustangs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Queen City emerged with a 5-3 win. The Steam gained the winning advantage on a goal by Stephen Pack 19:14 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Henry Smith was all over the ice for Queen City, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Smith scored 13:48 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Queen City. John Bonta picked up the assist. The Steam's penalty kill excelled, as Queen City gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Steam stifled Peoria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Queen City outdid its season average for goals scored. The Steam average 2.9 goals per game. Queen City also got points from Pack, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Queen City also got a goal from Damien Lona as well. In addition, Queen City received assists from Chase Engdahl, Devin Fracassi, Thomas Clayton, and Trevor Knoll, who contributed one a piece. The Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Queen City was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Peoria was helped by Cody Lichtenvoort, who registered one goal. Lichtenvoort scored 15:38 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Alexander Turin provided the assist. Connor Millard also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Cory Kettler, Blake Ortman, Chance Homerin, Max Finley, and Austin Fletcher, who each chipped in one. Matt McLaughlin recorded 44 saves for the Steam. Queen City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michael Parda made 23 saves for the Mustangs on 27 shots. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
