Chapie lifts Metro over Michigan, 6-2

Ryan Chapie had two goals to lead the Metro Jets to a 6-2 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats.

Chapie found the back of the net on the power play 4:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Metro and again while 6:49 into the second to make the score 3-0 Metro.

Metro also got points from Matt Stirling, who also registered one goal and one assist, Alex Holm, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mike Gambino, who also had one goal and one assist. Devon D'Angelo also scored for Metro. More assists for Metro came via Jeff Monfils, who had two and Travis Hargett, Andrew Palushaj, TJ Krajewski, Zach Mac Kay, and Derek Britton, who each chipped in one.

Michigan kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 33 saves on 35 shots.

The Mountain Cats were helped by Kenny Simmons, who tallied one goal. Simmons scored 14:19 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Metro. Kade Morrison provided the assist. Michigan also got a goal from Marshall Helton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Guy Soulliere and Ethan Baker, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michigan's starting goalie, Spencer Craig, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ian Dvorak, who stopped nine shots. The Mountain Cats totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
