Alexandria wins tough contest against Twin City, 5-3Runestone Community Center Fri, Nov 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alexandria Blizzard and the Twin City Steel were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Alexandria made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. The Blizzard gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ian Eckland 9:44 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Alexandria got the win thanks to a great game by Eckland, who had one goal and two assists. The Blizzard stifled Twin City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alexandria kept the Steel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sawyer Marshall made 33 saves on 38 shots. Alexandria additionally got points from Garrett Skinner, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Joe Anderson, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Alexandria also got a goal from Chayce Coenen as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Austin Rudnick, Will Becker, Danny Pelzer, Ritchie Brown, and Spencer Peratalo, who contributed one a piece. Twin City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blizzard to score on any of their four power plays. The Steel were helped by Kegan Storjohann, who finished with one goal. Storjohann scored 8:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Isaac Hale assisted on the tally. Nick Cerrato also scored for Twin City. In addition, Twin City received assists from Tony Buchal, Calvin Miska, and Nicholas Schreiner, who each chipped in one. Chase Wilson made 22 saves for Alexandria on 25 shots. The Blizzard ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Twin City totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
