Cody Lichtenvoort scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Peoria Mustangs picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-0 SO) win over the Quad City Jr. Flames. The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. Peoria also got a shootout goal from Lichtenvoort.The Mustangs saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Peoria made the score 3-0 on a goal by Austin Fletcher at 15:02 in the second period. Quad City evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jake Wynd at 16:20 in the third period. In a losing effort, the Jr. Flames were led by Easton Halbert, who had two goals. Halbert scored the first of his two goals at 20 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. Peter Coppola provided the assist. Halbert's next tally made the score 3-2 Peoria with 10:16 left in the third period. Quad City was on a disadvantage when Nathan Iaciancio went off the ice for high sticking. Clayton Janecke picked up the assist. The Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Flames were unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The defensemen of Peoria were also effective in Quad City's zone, and came away with two goals. The Mustangs were led by Lichtenvoort, who tallied one goal. Lichtenvoort scored 6:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Blake Ortman assisted on the tally. Connor Millard also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Joe Power Wayvon, Alexander Turin, and Joe Lampman, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Flames stifled Peoria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Quad City's offense rang up 44 shots on the Mustangs' net. In addition, Quad City received assists from Colten Thiel and Jason Hoehn, who contributed one a piece. Alex Reichle rejected 41 shots on goal for Peoria. The Mustangs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jr. Flames' Robby Vukelich stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Quad City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
