A stellar performance between the pipes by Spencer Craig helped the Michigan Mountain Cats defeat the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, 2-1.

Michigan was sparked by Guy Soulliere, who finished with one goal. Soulliere scored 17:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Michigan. Bryan Davis assisted on the tally.

The Mountain Cats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Derek Ried also scored for Michigan. More assists for Michigan came via Marshall Helton, who had one.

Cleveland managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Lumberjacks finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Cleveland's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Lumberjacks average 4.7 goals per game. Cleveland kept Michigan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Craig made 31 saves on 32 shots.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Bo Zinner, who scored the team's only goal. Zinner scored 9:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland. Mike Palasics picked up the assist.

The Mountain Cats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. John OBrien made 21 saves for Cleveland on 23 shots.
