Paulson's hat trick boosts North Iowa over Twin City, 8-4

Tony Paulson lifted the North Iowa Bulls to an 8-4 victory with a hat trick against the Twin City Steel.

Paulson notched his first tally 1:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:40 into the second and at 10:00 into the second.

North Iowa scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Bulls forced Steel's goalies to work in net, getting 43 shots and forcing 35 saves. Joey Garapolo made 33 stops and Sawyer Marshall made two. North Iowa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Twin City to score on any of its four power plays. The Bulls' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, North Iowa averages 5.5 goals per contest.

North Iowa additionally got points from Eric Behrend, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Patrick Sivets, who also had one goal and three assists, and James Hughes, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Connor Langfield also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Ron Lindgren, Jake Johnson, Andrew Halama, and Conor Jonasson, who each chipped in one.

The Steel could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Twin City was led by Calvin Miska, who registered two goals and one assist. Miska scored the first of his two goals short handed at 13:26 into the second period to make the score 6-1 North Iowa. The Steel found themselves down a man on Noah Anderson's tripping. Brody Peterson picked up the assist. Miska's next tally short handed made the score 6-2 North Iowa with 5:05 left in the second period. Tom Bartel provided the assist. Twin City also got a goal from Ryan McAloon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Trey Hughes, who had one.

Aaron Davis made 25 saves for the Bulls on 29 shots. North Iowa incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
