Metro blows out Battle Creek, 9-3The Rink - B. Creek Sun, Nov 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Metro Jets were firing on all cylinders against the Battle Creek Revolution, and when the final buzzer sounded Jets emerged with a 9-3 win. Mike Gambino had two goals and one assist to lead Metro. Gambino scored the first of his two goals at 18:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Metro. Myles Burrough picked up the assist. Gambino's next tally made the score 3-0 Metro with 13:31 left in the second period. Jeff Monfils provided the assist. The Jets made Revolution's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 40 shots and forcing 31 saves. Jackson Steltmann made 11 stops and Trevor Beck made 20. Metro bested its season scoring average. This season, the Jets average 4.1 goals per contest. Metro also got points from Travis Hargett, who also registered three goals and one assist, TJ Krajewski, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Alex Holm, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Andrew Palushaj also scored for Metro. More assists for Metro came via Thomas Evans, who had two and Chad Frost, Doug Andrews, Josh Hosking, and Matt Stirling, who each chipped in one. Battle Creek was led by Joey Lioy, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Lioy scored 8:27 into the third period to make the score 8-3 Metro. Battle Creek also got a goal from James Romberger as well. In addition, Battle Creek received assists from Michael Schmitt and Zach Rees, who contributed one a piece. Metro's Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Revolution incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
