Argyros lifts St. Louis over Peoria, 3-1Owens Rec Ctr Sat, Nov 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Christian Argyros had two goals to lead the St. Louis Jr. Blues to a 3-1 victory over the Peoria Mustangs. Argyros scored on the power play at 16:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis and again while 12:09 into the third to make the score 3-1 St. Louis.St. Louis' Mikael Broliden was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Broliden certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.39 entering the contest. The Jr. Blues' penalty kill excelled, as St. Louis gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. The Jr. Blues could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Louis puts an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Blues' offense rang up 37 shots on Peoria's net. St. Louis' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Jr. Blues finished with 36 penalty minutes. St. Louis also got a goal from Cody Guidorzi as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Lukas Daniels and Jeremy Edwards, who contributed one a piece. The Mustangs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Peoria was led by Cory Kettler, who scored the team's only goal. Kettler scored on the power play 4:52 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Mustangs had gained a power play chance when Lucas Stewart was whistled for boarding. Cody Lichtenvoort assisted on the tally. St. Louis registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Peoria's Michael Parda stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
