Toledo falls apart in second, loses to Three Rivers, 6-0

The Three Rivers Vengeance scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Toledo Cherokee and clinch a 6-0 win.

Alex Berardinelli was all over the ice for Three Rivers, as he finished with two goals in the win. Berardinelli's tallies came on the power play at 8:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Three Rivers and 12:35 into the second to make the score 4-0 Three Rivers.

Toledo's power play was ineffective against the Vengeance's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Three Rivers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Toledo power plays. The Vengeance were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Three Rivers additionally got points from Nico Vecchio, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Three Rivers also got a goal from Nicholas Santiago as well. In addition, Three Rivers received assists from Vincent Susi, Tyler Stockwell, and Michael Straub, who contributed one a piece and Tyler Berry and Alex Shimoloens, who each chipped in two.

The Cherokee did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Toledo averages 3.6 goals per game.

Tyler Stepke recorded 20 saves for Three Rivers. The Vengeance registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Hunter Vorva took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Josh Cliff who made 11 saves. The Cherokee incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
