Cleveland holds on for 3-2 win against Flint

The Flint Jr. Generals tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Louis Sawchik put Cleveland up 3-1 in the third period, but Flint pulled to within one on Nicholas Gnagni's tally 15:18 into the third period.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Sawchik, who racked up one goal. Sawchik scored 4:10 into the third period to make the score Cleveland. Bo Zinner picked up the assist.

Cleveland was held below its usual level of production. The Jr. Lumberjacks put an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Generals were unable to stop Cleveland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Lumberjacks eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Jared Johnson also scored for Cleveland. More assists for Cleveland came via Scott Cuthrell, Mike Palasics, and Toms Taurins, who each chipped in one.

Flint could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr. Generals average 4.1 goals per game. Flint forced Cleveland goalie David Heflin to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Flint also got a goal from Eric Jones as well. In addition, Flint received assists from Jacob Howie, who had two and Nicholas Goetel and Edward Osowski, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' Heflin stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ted Barile made 29 saves for the Jr. Generals on 32 shots. Flint incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
