Vecchio nets hat trick, leads Three Rivers to 8-0 win over Battle Creek

The Battle Creek Revolution could not stop the Three Rivers Vengeance's Nico Vecchio, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-0 win.

Vecchio got on the scoresheet 10:52 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:55 into the second and at 19:34 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but Three Rivers banged in five goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Battle Creek.

The Vengeance pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 59 penalty minutes.

Three Rivers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Revolution to score on any of their six power plays. The Vengeance forced Battle Creek goalie Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Three Rivers' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Vengeance average 4.1 goals per contest.

Three Rivers also got points from Tyler Berry, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Alex Berardinelli, who also registered one goal and three assists. Three Rivers also got a goal from Jonah Hoover as well. Other players who recorded assists for Three Rivers were Michael Straub, who had two and Nicholas Santiago and Kevin Kenny, who contributed one a piece.

The Revolution did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 14 saves.

Three Rivers' Matthew Erlichman stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Vengeance registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Three Rivers, Vincent Susi was ejected from the game. Hughes recorded 37 saves for Battle Creek. The Revolution ended with 51 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors. For Battle Creek, Eric Tucker and Donta Juris were ejected from the contest.
