St. Louis blows out Michigan, 9-1

The St. Louis Jr. Blues had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-1 win over the Michigan Mountain Cats.

St. Louis was led by Cody Guidorzi, who registered one goal. Guidorzi scored 17:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Louis. Andrew Kovacich assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Blues forced Mountain Cats' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 47 shots and forcing 38 saves. Dominic Orlando made 34 stops and Dominic Juncaj made four. St. Louis outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Jr. Blues average 5.5 goals per contest.

St. Louis additionally got points from Trace Jablin, who also finished with three goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Kovacich, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tommy Heinzman, who also had one goal and one assist, and Mike Lozano, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sam Turner also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Kerry McGlynn, who had two, Trey Dodd, who had three, and Kyle Meeh, Joey Luongo, Lukas Daniels, Jeremy Edwards, Cody Fedak, Justin Rehrer, and Lucas Stewart, who each chipped in one.

Michigan was led by Ethan Baker, who scored the team's only goal. Baker scored on the power play 16:45 into the third period to make the score 9-1 St. Louis. The Mountain Cats had gotten the advantage when St. Louis' Rehrer was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ben Mack picked up the assist.

The Jr. Blues' Mikael Broliden stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. St. Louis incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michigan incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
