Mike Gambino scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Metro Jets picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-1 SO) win over the Flint Jr. Generals. The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Flint got a shootout goal from Nicholas Goetel. In addition to the clincher, Metro got shootout goals from Matt Stirling and Gambino.Andrew Palushaj was all over the ice for the Jets, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Palushaj found the back of the net 14:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro and again while 40 seconds into the third to make the score 2-2. Metro forced the Jr. Generals goalie Patrick Drazkowski to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Metro additionally got points from Stirling, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Metro came via Doug Andrews, Josh Hosking, Zach Mac Kay, and Gambino, who contributed one a piece. Flint stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Generals were helped by James Odom, who had one goal. Odom scored 19:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Flint. Brett Leppek assisted on the tally. Flint also got points from Edward Osowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nicholas Gnagni also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Goetel, Eric Jones, and Casey Barile, who each chipped in one. Austin Julvezan recorded 24 saves for Metro. The Jets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Drazkowski rejected 32 shots on goal for Flint. The Jr. Generals incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
