St. Louis shrugs off penalties, upends Quad City, 3-0

The Quad City Jr. Flames failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the St. Louis Jr. Blues shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-0.

St. Louis was paced by Jeremy Edwards, who finished with one goal. Edwards scored 5:56 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Tyler Opilka assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Blues excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. St. Louis' offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Blues average 5.2 goals per game.

St. Louis also got a goal from Sam Turner as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Christian Argyros and Cody Guidorzi, who contributed one a piece.

Quad City stifled St. Louis' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Jr. Blues' Mikael Broliden stopped 17 shots out of the 17 that he faced. St. Louis incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Robby Vukelich recorded 27 saves for the Jr. Flames. Quad City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
