Twin City beats Breezy Point 8-2 as McAloon gets hat trick

Ryan McAloon netted a hat trick to lead the Twin City Steel over the Breezy Point North Stars, 8-2.

McAloon got on the scoresheet 10:47 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:23 into the second and at 19:59 into the third.

Breezy Point's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the North Stars let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Breezy Point was unable to stop Twin City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Steel eventually piled up 60 shots on goal. Twin City's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Steel average 3.1 goals per contest. Twin City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Twin City also got points from Trey Hughes, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Ryan Brown, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Twin City included Shane Hill, who had one and Marvin Powell, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Ryan Schroeder, Tony Buchal, Nikolai Sherstiuk, and Blake Koosmann, who each chipped in one and Isaac Hale and Tom Bartel, who contributed two a piece.

The the North Stars penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Breezy Point had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Jared Schletty made 26 saves for the Steel on 28 shots. Tommy Terrance rejected 52 shots on goal for the North Stars. Breezy Point registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
