Barile stymies Peoria, Flint wins 2-1

Ted Barile had a standout game with 34 saves, and the Flint Jr. Generals beat the Peoria Mustangs 2-1.

Peoria's power play was ineffective against Flint's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Jr. Generals were led by Edward Osowski, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Osowski scored on the power play 13:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Flint. Flint had taken the advantage when the Mustangs' Austin Fletcher got sent off for holding.

The Jr. Generals' offense operated below they season average. Flint puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Generals' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Flint finished with 82 penalty minutes.

Flint also got a goal from Eric Jones as well. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Andrew Lay, who had one.

Peoria could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mustangs average 3.4 goals per game. The Jr. Generals were unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Peoria was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 50 penalty minutes.

The Mustangs were led by Austin Wisely, who scored the team's only goal. Wisely scored on the power play 10:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Peoria had gotten the advantage when Flint's Casey Barile was sent off for cross checking. Cody Lichtenvoort picked up the assist.

The Jr. Generals registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Michael Parda recorded 27 saves for the Mustangs.
