Metro wins tough contest against Quad City, 3-2

The Metro Jets and the Quad City Jr. Flames were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Metro made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Travis Hargett at 15:16 of the third period.

The Jets' penalty kill excelled, as Metro gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Jets were led by Hargett, who racked up one goal.

Metro stifled Quad City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jets forced the Jr. Flames goalie Jake Leon to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Metro also got points from Matt Stirling, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Gambino also scored for Metro. More assists for Metro came via Doug Andrews, Andrew Palushaj, Devon D'Angelo, and Jeff Monfils, who each chipped in one.

Quad City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Jr. Flames kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Luke DuBois made 37 saves on 39 shots.

Quad City was helped by Harley Manus, who tallied one goal. Manus scored 3:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Owen Ahlstrom picked up the assist. Quad City also got a goal from Peter Coppola as well. In addition, Quad City received assists from Chayce Coenen, Anthony Caroselli, and Easton Halbert, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Flames' Leon stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Quad City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
