Toledo outlasts Metro, 4-2

The Toledo Cherokee and the Metro Jets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toledo made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Cherokee gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tyler Zalecki 6:37 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Zalecki had two goals to lead Toledo to victory.

The Cherokee stifled Metro's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Andrew Benyo also scored for Toledo. In addition, Toledo received assists from Brody Duncan, Donnie Nagle, Jordan Fogarty, Alec Gerred, and Brandon Layman, who each chipped in one.

The Jets were helped by Luke Rendino, who had one goal. Rendino scored 6:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Toledo. Doug Andrews picked up the assist. Metro also got a goal from Andrew Palushaj as well. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Matt Stirling, who had two.

Nathan Miller recorded 24 saves for Toledo. The Cherokee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Trevor Kalinowski made 25 saves for Metro on 28 shots. The Jets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
