Cleveland squeaks by Queen City, 6-4The Sphere Sun, Oct 07, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Queen City Steam. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Scott Cuthrell secured the win for Cleveland with a goal in the third period. Dallas Szustak had two goals and two assists to lead the Jr. Lumberjacks. Szustak scored the first of his two goals at 4:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland. Brendan Logan picked up the assist. Szustak's next tally made the score 6-4 Cleveland with 10:15 left in the third period. Logan provided the assist. Cleveland kept Queen City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Eno made 30 saves on 36 shots. Cleveland also got points from Andrew Mitch, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Cleveland also got a goal from Toms Taurins as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Cameron Dimmitt, Jared Johnson, and Zach Seither, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Lumberjacks were unable to stop the Steam from sending pucks towards the net, and Queen City eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Steam were led by Lucas McCammant, who registered two goals and one assist. McCammant scored the first of his two goals at 8:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stephen Pack picked up the assist. McCammant's next tally made the score 2-1 Queen City with 10:40 left in the second period. A cross checking penalty on Pat Smith had put Queen City on the power play. Timmy Weisgerber provided the assist. Damien Lona also scored for Queen City. Other players who recorded assists for Queen City were Chase Engdahl and Robert Gentile, who contributed one a piece. Christan Michalik recorded 32 saves for Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. The Steam incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
