St. Louis blows out Quad City, 7-0

The St. Louis Jr. Blues had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over the Quad City Jr. Flames.

Lukas Daniels had a great game for St. Louis, netting two goals. Daniels found the back of the net 4:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis and again while 9:08 into the second to make the score 3-0 St. Louis.

Quad City's power play was ineffective against the Jr. Blues' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

St. Louis was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Blues had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. St. Louis put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Flames to score on any of their eight power plays. The Jr. Blues' offense rang up 36 shots on Quad City's net. The defensemen of St. Louis were also effective in the Jr. Flames' zone, and came away with three goals.

St. Louis also got points from Tyler Opilka, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tommy Daniels, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Louis also got a goal from Kyle Meeh as well. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Trace Jablin, Andrew Kovacich, Kerry McGlynn, Trey Dodd, Christian Argyros, Lucas Stewart, and Mike Lozano, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues' Mikael Broliden stopped 22 shots out of the 22 that he faced. St. Louis registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Zak Kemble rejected 29 shots on goal for Quad City. The Jr. Flames incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
