Queen City beats Peoria 5-3 as Lona gets hat trick

Damien Lona netted a hat trick to lead the Queen City Steam over the Peoria Mustangs, 5-3.

Lona's first goal came 11:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:48 into the second and at 19:38 into the second.

Queen City additionally got points from Stephen Pack, who also had one goal and one assist and Emil Sundstrom, who also registered one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Queen City were Douglas Roesch and Nick Brusa, who each chipped in one.

Peoria stifled Queen City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mustangs kept the Steam's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Eno made 30 saves on 33 shots. Peoria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Mustangs were led by Alexander Turin, who finished with two goals. Turin scored the first of his two goals at 18:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Queen City. Brennan Anderson picked up the assist. Turin's next tally made the score 4-3 Queen City with 1:04 left in the third period. Blake Ortman assisted on the tally. Peoria also got a goal from Austin Ziakas as well. More assists for Peoria came via Nikolas Sakellaropoulos, who had one and Cory Kettler, who had two.

Queen City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Matthew Pinel recorded 23 saves for Peoria. The Mustangs registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Peoria ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Lichtenvoort was ejected from the game.
