Alexandria outlasts Quad City, 3-2

The Alexandria Blizzard and the Quad City Jr. Flames were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Alexandria made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

The Blizzard gained the winning advantage on a goal by Garrett Skinner 8:37 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Alexandria's penalty kill excelled, as the Blizzard gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Alexandria was sparked by Skinner, who had one goal.

The Blizzard kept Quad City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zak Kemble made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Alexandria additionally got points from Ian Eckland, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Alexandria also got a goal from Karson Kuntz as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Tanner Duffney, who had one.

The Jr. Flames did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force nine saves.

Quad City was helped by Jason Hoehn, who registered two goals. Hoehn scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. The Jr. Flames had gotten the advantage when Alexandria's Duffney was sent off for charging. Clayton Janecke picked up the assist. Hoehn's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Quad City with 13:35 left in the second period. DJ Mussey provided the assist.

Kyle Miller rejected nine shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Quad City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
