The Granite City Lumberjacks' DJ Vold scored 42 seconds into overtime to beat the North Iowa Bulls, 4-3 (OT). Mitch Humphries had two goals to lead Granite City to victory. Humphries scored on the power play at 16:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City and again while 4:20 into the third to make the score 3-2 Granite City. North Iowa's power play was ineffective against the Lumberjacks' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Granite City also got points from Vold, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aidan Verbeke also scored for Granite City. In addition, Granite City received assists from Aaron Azevedo, who had two and Colten Thiel and Aaron Storch, who each chipped in one. The Bulls could not produce up to they normal offensive output. North Iowa puts an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. The Bulls were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. North Iowa was helped by Jared Ramstead, who tallied one goal. Ramstead scored 18:34 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Eric Behrend provided the assist. North Iowa additionally got points from Matt Kroska, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. North Iowa also got a goal from Patrick Sivets as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Andrew Halama, who had two and Kyle Krueger and Conor Jonasson, who contributed one a piece.
