DeRosa leads Port Huron over Michigan, 7-4

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons' Rick DeRosa had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-4 win over the Michigan Warriors.

DeRosa beat Dillion Kelley with a shot 9:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Nick provided the assist. DeRosa dished an assist on Brett DAndrea's goal that made the score 2-1 Port Huron at 10:03 into the first period. He then added assists on DAndrea's goal at 12:35 into the second and on Vito Aluia's goal at 18:51 into the second.

Port Huron surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Fighting Falcons have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. With 33 shots on target during the contest, Port Huron exceeded the 27.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Port Huron also got points from DAndrea, who also had two goals and one assist. Port Huron also got a goal from Easton Powers as well. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Tyler Spezia, who had two and Alex Archibald, Mick Bruce, Dunk Abbott, Kyle Plageman, Ian Miller, Nick Horne, and Payden Mielke, who contributed one a piece.

Michigan racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. The Warriors surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Michigan's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.1 shots per game it averages.

The Warriors were led by Heinz Koster, who finished with one goal and one assist. Koster scored 2:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. Darren McCormick assisted on the tally. Jeff Beck also scored for Michigan. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Ryan Dougherty, Zach OHara, and Jake Hopfner, who each chipped in one.

The Fighting Falcons' Max Milosek stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Port Huron totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Dillion Kelley made 26 saves for Michigan on 33 shots. The Warriors registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Team's Jake Faiella and Jon Farkas were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
