Wenatchee downs Fresno in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Selland Arena Fri, Mar 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild's Blake Butzow scored 2:55 into overtime to beat the Fresno Monsters, 5-4 (OT). Wenatchee came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Wild was down 4-2 after a goal by Fresno's Kyle Sucher at 12:48 in the second period. Wenatchee knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jono Davis at 14:33 in the third period. With three goals and one assist between them, Davis and Butzow teamed up to power the Wild's offense. Davis grabbed two goals and one assist and Butzow also added one goal. Wenatchee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The defensemen of the Wild were also effective in the Monsters' zone, and came away with two goals. Wenatchee additionally got points from Chris Jones, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Evan Schmidbauer also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Chris Kerr, who had two, Max McHugh, who had three, and Nicholas Kuchera and Jacob Barber, who contributed one a piece. With 28 shots on target during the contest, Fresno exceeded the 19.4 shots it averages per game this year. The Monsters were led by Chase Sisk, who racked up two goals. Sisk scored the first of his two goals at 4:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Andrew Herlofsky assisted on the tally. Sisk's next tally made the score 3-2 Fresno with 11:49 left in the second period. Fresno also got a goal from Karl Andersen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Mark Bittner, Trevor Husch, Gordon Wells, and Mitchell Snyder, who each chipped in one. Wenatchee took out Robert Nichols after he had made 13 saves and installed Nick Schmit in goal, where he finished with 11 saves and the win. The Wild incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tomas Sholl rejected 25 shots on goal for Fresno. The Monsters incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
