Cole's hat trick boosts Amarillo over Texas, 5-1CC-Arena Fri, Mar 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Ryan Cole was the highlight in Bulls' 5-1 win against the Texas Tornado. Cole's first goal came 8:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:36 into the second and at 14:43 into the third.Texas' power play was ineffective against the Amarillo Bulls' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Amarillo struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 21 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. Tyler Deresky also scored for Amarillo. More assists for Amarillo came via John Rey, Brady Ferguson, TJ Sarcona, Blake Roubos, Mike Davis, and Clint Carlisle, who contributed one a piece and Gage Christianson and Tyler Rostenkowski, who each chipped in two. The Tornado were below their usual level of shot production, taking 23 shots compared to the 29.6 Texas averages. The Tornado could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Texas puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Tornado were led by Max Shuart, who scored the team's only goal. Shuart scored on the power play 5:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. Texas had gotten the advantage when the Bulls' Roubos was sent off for high sticking. Michael Hoy picked up the assist. Paul Berrafato rejected 22 shots on goal for Amarillo. The Bulls registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Hunter Leisner recorded 25 saves for the Tornado. Texas incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
