The Topeka RoadRunners survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wichita Falls Wildcats on the way to a 2-1 win. Topeka took a 2-0 lead during the first period, only to have Wichita Falls storm back on a Kyle Bauman goal 17:02 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The RoadRunners were sparked by Tyler Andrew, who finished with one goal. Andrew scored on the power play 13:17 into the first period to make the score Topeka. Topeka had taken the advantage when the Wildcats' Rudy Junda got sent off for slashing. Kevin Patterson provided the assist. The RoadRunners put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wichita Falls to score on any of its three power plays. Peter Halash also scored for Topeka. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Luke Veitch, Michal Pastor, and Kyle Sharkey, who contributed one a piece. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Chris Knudson and O'Neal L, who each chipped in one. Spencer Viele recorded 23 saves for Topeka. The RoadRunners incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Wildcats' Evan Cowley stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Wichita Falls incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
