Bismarck downs Austin in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Riverside Sat, Mar 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bismarck Bobcats' Joe Giordano scored 1:58 into overtime to beat the Austin Bruins, 4-3 (OT). Bismarck overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bobcats trailed 3-0 after a power play goal by Austin's Jay Dickman at 19:58 in the second period. Bismarck tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Matt Pohlkamp at 19:29 in the third period. The Bobcats was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play. Bismarck put 45 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.6 it averages per game. Mike Dockry also scored for Bismarck. More assists for Bismarck came via Nate Repensky, who had three and Stanislav Dzakhov, Bob Kinne, Filip Starzynski, Daniel Kovar, and Patrick Moore, who each chipped in one. The Bruins were helped by Drew Anderson, who grabbed two goals. Anderson scored the first of his two goals at 17:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Austin. CJ Smith assisted on the tally. Anderson's next tally made the score 2-0 Austin with 7:03 left in the second period. Dickman provided the assist. Austin also got points from Dickman, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Austin received assists from Jake Flynn, John Simonson, Brandon Wahlin, and Grant Eichstadt, who contributed one a piece. Aaron Nelson rejected 27 shots on goal for the Bobcats. Bismarck incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jason Pawloski recorded 41 saves for Austin. The Bruins totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Austin ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Wahlin was ejected from the game.
