Port Huron vanquishes Janesville in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Huron Fighting Falcons defeated the Janesville Jets in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Port Huron's other shootout goal was scored by Vito Aluia.

The Fighting Falcons stifled Janesville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 33 shots that Port Huron put on net surpassed the Fighting Falcons' average of 26.9 shots per game this season.

Port Huron was helped by Rick DeRosa, who finished with one goal. DeRosa scored 17:12 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Port Huron. Alex Archibald assisted on the tally. Tyler Spezia also scored for Port Huron. More assists for Port Huron came via Jonathan Kopacka, David Parrottino, Easton Powers, and Dan Dupell, who each chipped in one.

The Jets relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Kucerovy, Todd Koritzinsky and Jason Ford took 16 of the team's 31 shots.

Janesville also got a goal from Ryan Dau as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Alec Vanko, who had two and Jordan Himley, Zach Diamantoni, and Chase Rey, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Blankenburg rejected 28 shots on goal for the Fighting Falcons. Port Huron incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brock Kautz made 29 saves for Janesville on 32 shots. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
