Johnstown wins tough contest against Kalamazoo, 3-2Blue Rink Sat, Mar 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Johnstown Tomahawks and the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Johnstown emerged with a 3-2 win. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Brandon Reinholz's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Tomahawks were sparked by Reinholz, who grabbed one goal. Reinholz scored 18:48 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Johnstown. Jake Fairchild provided the assist. Johnstown could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. By firing 35 shots on goal, the Tomahawks exceeded the 27.2 shots they average per game this year. Ian Spencer also scored for Johnstown. Kalamazoo also got a goal from Patrick Spellacy as well. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Mark Esshaki and Mac McDonnell, who each chipped in one. Chris Truehl rejected 30 shots on goal for the Tomahawks. Johnstown registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Marcus Due-Boje recorded 32 saves for Kalamazoo. The Jr. K-Wings registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Kalamazoo, Brett Beauvais was ejected from the game.
