Brookings survives Minot comeback, wins 4-3Larson Ice Center Red Fri, Mar 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brookings Blizzard survived a determined comeback attempt by the Minot Minotauros on the way to a 4-3 win. Brookings took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Minot storm back on a Lucas Oliver goal 8:40 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Blizzard put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.8 they average per game. Brookings was helped by Adam Cavalinni, who tallied one goal. Cavalinni scored on the power play 7:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brookings. The Blizzard earned a power play opportunity when Cody Milligan was put in the box for checking from behind. Thomas Williams assisted on the tally. Brookings also got a goal from Drew Brevig as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brookings were Matt Youso and Tyler Cayemberg, who contributed one a piece and Justin Moody and Evan Hesse, who each chipped in two. The Minotauros' offense rang up 32 shots on Brookings' net. Jake OBorsky also scored for Minot. More assists for Minot came via Matt Audette, Cameron Rowat, Jerry Laakso, Jacob Benson, and Stephen Sherman, who contributed one a piece. Drew Weigman rejected 29 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Brookings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Parks took the loss and made 19 saves before being replaced by Ryan Ruck who made 12 saves. Minot incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
