Austin wins tough contest against Minot, 3-2

The Austin Bruins gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Minot Minotauros.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by AJ Reid at 9:02 of the third period.

Austin was led by Reid, who racked up one goal.

By firing 35 shots on goal, the Bruins exceeded the 29.1 shots they average per game this year.

Austin also got points from Jay Dickman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Austin also got a goal from CJ Smith as well. More assists for Austin came via John Simonson, who had two and Michael Bond, Brandon Wahlin, and Grant Eichstadt, who each chipped in one.

Minot's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 14 shots between them.

The Minotauros were helped by Jadin Martin, who had one goal. Martin scored 8:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Minot. Cameron Rowat also scored for Minot. In addition, Minot received assists from Jerry Laakso, who had one.

Nicholas Lehr recorded 24 saves for Austin. The Bruins totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Tyler Parks rejected 32 shots on goal for Minot. The Minotauros totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Minot, Lucas Oliver was ejected from the game.
