The Corpus Christi IceRays survived a determined comeback attempt by the Texas Tornado on the way to a 3-2 win. Corpus Christi took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have Texas storm back on a Max Shuart goal 16:33 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Michael Economos was all over the ice for the IceRays, as he had two goals in the win. Corpus Christi excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 30 shots on goal, the IceRays exceeded the 23.6 shots they average per game this year. Corpus Christi also got a goal from Charles Baldwin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Emil Romig, who had two and Rudy Sulmonde, Beau Walker, Nick Monfils, and Ryan McNeely, who contributed one a piece. The Tornado put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 30.2 they average per game. Michael Hoy also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Nick Neville and Andrew Mayer, who each chipped in two. Hayden Stewart recorded 35 saves for Corpus Christi. The IceRays incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Texas' Hunter Leisner stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Tornado incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
