Kevin Patterson gave the Topeka RoadRunners a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Amarillo Bulls when he scored 4:38 into the extra period. Topeka was led by goalie Spencer Viele, who finished with 45 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Viele will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.12. The RoadRunners were sparked by Patterson, who finished with one goal. Topeka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The RoadRunners' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.0 shots per game they average. Topeka also got points from Brandon Brossoit, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Topeka came via Tyler Andrew and Tomas Nechala, who each chipped in one. Amarillo racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Bulls surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Topeka was unable to stop Amarillo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Amarillo was led by Ryan Cole, who scored the team's only goal. Cole scored 12:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Amarillo. Brady Ferguson provided the assist. The RoadRunners totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-9 on the power play. Paul Berrafato rejected 26 shots on goal for the Bulls.
