Aberdeen rolls over Brookings, 7-2

The Aberdeen Wings had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Brookings Blizzard.

Aberdeen was led by Colton Kramer, who tallied one goal. Kramer scored 14:00 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Aberdeen. Niklas Mayrhauser picked up the assist.

The Wings put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.2 they average per game. Aberdeen surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Wings average 2.5 goals per game. Aberdeen capitalized on Brookings' penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Aberdeen additionally got points from Tyler Cisar, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jonathan Grebosky, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Tanner Holmquist, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aberdeen included Justin Parizek, who had one and Erik Baskin, who had two. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Jake Horton, Zach Kraft, and Peter Krieger, who contributed one a piece and Steven Johnson and Kyle Haak, who each chipped in two.

With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Blizzard exceeded the 27.4 shots they average per game this year.

Brookings was led by Justin Moody, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Moody scored 11:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Evan Hesse assisted on the tally. Brookings also got a goal from Adam Cavalinni as well. More assists for Brookings came via Jared Docken and Derek Sand, who contributed one a piece.

Zach Nagelvoort recorded 31 saves for the Wings. Aberdeen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Blizzard's starting goalie, Drew Weigman, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Chase Wilson, who stopped 13 shots. Brookings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
