Wichita Falls completes comeback, beats Topeka, 4-3

The Topeka RoadRunners could not hold down the Wichita Falls Wildcats, and Wildcats erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Wichita Falls let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Wildcats took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by O'Neal L at 12:27 in the first period. Wichita Falls went down 3-1 after Topeka's Jerad Tafoya put the puck home at 7:13 in the third period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Salminen Sami at 17:10 in the third, the Wildcats got the game-winner from Colin Staub at 19:52 in the third period.

Wichita Falls was led by Staub, who had one goal.

Sam Pzazza also scored for Wichita Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Charles Hemstrom, Rudy Junda, Will Vosejpka, and George Pagonis, who contributed one a piece and Chris Knudson and Tyler Ledford, who each chipped in two.

The RoadRunners stifled the Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Topeka's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.3 shots per game it averages.

The RoadRunners were led by Brandon Brossoit, who tallied one goal and one assist. Brossoit scored on the power play 4:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Topeka had taken the advantage when Wichita Falls' Eliot Grauer got sent off for too many men. Kyle Sharkey provided the assist. Topeka also got a goal from Tyler Groat as well. In addition, Topeka received assists from Michal Pastor, Drew Kariofiles, and Tyler Poulsen, who contributed one a piece.

The Wildcats' Evan Cowley stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Wichita Falls totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Spencer Viele made 24 saves for the RoadRunners on 28 shots. Topeka totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
