Fairbanks erases deficit to stun Kenai River, 3-2

The Kenai River Brown Bears could not hold down the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, and Ice Dogs erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win.

Fairbanks never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Ice Dogs fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Kenai River's Mikhail Bushinski at 8:30 in the first period. Fairbanks knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Devin Loe at 18:18 in the first period. The Ice Dogs scored the game winner at 9:41 in the third period on a goal by Loe.

Fairbanks was paced by Kyle Lee, who finished with one goal.

Fairbanks also got a goal from Colton Wolter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Zack Rall, who had two and Nick Hinz and Lawrence Cornellier, who contributed one a piece.

The Brown Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fairbanks power plays.

Kenai River was helped by Alex Jackstadt, who grabbed one goal. Jackstadt scored short handed 7:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kenai River. The Brown Bears were on a disadvantage when Bryan Hodges went off the ice for interference. More assists for Kenai River came via Jacob Davidson and Jake Bushey, who each chipped in one.

Steve Perry made 24 saves for the Ice Dogs on 26 shots. Fairbanks ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Kenai River's Evan McCarthy stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Brown Bears totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
