Amarillo rips Odessa, 6-1Ector County Coliseum Fri, Mar 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes. Amarillo got the win thanks to a great game by John Rey, who had one goal and two assists. Rey scored 17:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Mike Davis assisted on the tally. The Bulls forced Odessa goalie Nick Deery to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Amarillo cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Amarillo additionally got points from Clint Carlisle, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amarillo included Tyler Deresky, who had two and Gage Christianson and Omar Mullan, who each put in one. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Garret Peterson, who had two and Connor Frey, Geoff Fortman, Dan McNamara, TJ Sherman, and Matt Sieckhaus, who each chipped in one. The Jackalopes' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with seven shots between them. Anthony Olguin also scored for Odessa. Other players who recorded assists for Odessa were Taylor Portner and Rif Taff, who contributed one a piece. Paul Berrafato rejected 14 shots on goal for the Bulls. Amarillo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Deery recorded 26 saves for Odessa. The Jackalopes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
