Brookings falls to Minot in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Maysa Arena Wed, Feb 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Minot Minotauros' Tim Donohue scored 1:49 into overtime to beat the Brookings Blizzard, 3-2 (OT). Donohue had two goals to lead Minot to victory. The Minotauros pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 38 penalty minutes. Minot also got points from Jake OBorsky, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Minot were Paul Sorenson, Jerry Laakso, Brett Bukowski, Lucas Oliver, and Mason Morelli, who each chipped in one. Brookings failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 21 pucks on goal after averaging 26.7 shots per game this season. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Brookings was helped by Nick DeCenzo, who racked up one goal. DeCenzo scored 3:03 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brookings. Connor Andrle assisted on the tally. Brookings also got a goal from Jared Docken as well. More assists for Brookings came via Thomas Williams and Eetu Karvinen, who contributed one a piece. Tyler Parks made 19 saves for Minot on 21 shots. The Minotauros registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Drew Weigman rejected 22 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Brookings registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
