The Kenai River Brown Bears took the lead against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. A goal 8:00 into the the first period by Zac Lazzaro proved to be the game winner, and powered Kenai River to the victory Zack Zulkanycz provided the assist.Lazzaro had two goals to lead the Brown Bears to victory. Kenai River was led by goalie Marcus Zelzer, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Zelzer will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.1. Chris Nuth also scored for Kenai River. More assists for Kenai River came via Jacob Davidson, Ryan Walker, Dylan Meier, and Albin Karlsson, who contributed one a piece. Fairbanks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kenai River power plays. The Ice Dogs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Fairbanks puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Ice Dogs' offense rang up 32 shots on the Brown Bears' net. Fairbanks was led by Garret Clemment, who scored the team's only goal. Clemment scored 16:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kenai River. Lawrence Cornellier assisted on the tally. Kenai River incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kevin Aldridge rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
