Wenatchee uses shootout to best Fairbanks, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

Wenatchee was helped by Trevor Stewart, who registered one goal. Stewart scored 4:36 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wenatchee. Trace Redmond provided the assist. Wenatchee also got a goal from Jacob Barber as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were David Mead, Joshua Hartley, Chris Kerr, Noah Nelson, and Blake Butzow, who contributed one a piece.

Fairbanks' defensemen bolstered the Ice Dogs' offensive attack, as they bombarded Robert Nichols with 10 shots.

Fairbanks was helped by Jacob Hetz, who tallied one goal. Hetz scored short handed 3:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs found themselves down a man on Colton Wolter's hooking. Doug Rose also scored for Fairbanks. More assists for Fairbanks came via Ben Campbell and Jayson Angus, who each chipped in one.

Nichols rejected 21 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Steve Perry made 24 saves for Fairbanks on 27 shots. The Ice Dogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
