Wichita Falls uses shootout to best Odessa, 4-3 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wichita Falls Wildcats defeated the Odessa Jackalopes in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 16 attempts between both teams. Odessa's shootout goals were scored by Jimmy Peplinski and Josh Racek. Wichita Falls also got shootout goals from George Pagonis and Tyler Ledford.

The Wildcats got the win behind a great game by Pagonis, who had one goal and two assists. Pagonis scored 14:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Eliot Grauer picked up the assist.

Wichita Falls put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.8 it averages per game.

Wichita Falls additionally got points from Grauer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wichita Falls also got a goal from Will Vosejpka as well. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Matt Robinson and Ledford, who each chipped in one.

The Wildcats were unable to stop the Jackalopes from sending pucks towards the net, and Odessa eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

The Jackalopes were helped by Mike Mezzano, who tallied one goal. Mezzano scored 15:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Odessa. Peplinski assisted on the tally. Odessa also got points from Peplinski, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Racek also scored for Odessa. Other players who recorded assists for Odessa were Brett Wagner, who had two and Cody Slocum, Lawrence Cornellier, and Dylan Campbell, who contributed one a piece.

Cooper Cook made 36 saves for Wichita Falls on 39 shots. The Wildcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nick Deery rejected 46 shots on goal for Odessa. The Jackalopes totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
